UB:12 Acquitted, Four sentenced,Trial Continues

Information that filtered from the case pitting some University of Buea students and the administration at the Buea court of first instance, indicates that Sigala Remy has been sentenced to 18 Months imprisonment and to pay a fine of over 50million fcfa in connection with the persistent crisis on campus that led to the destruction of properties.

Report also say that three other students had their sentence suspended on the grounds that if they pay the sum of 140 000fcfa each, they will be acquitted if not they will spend 9 months in prison.
Twelve students were found not guilty and have been acquitted. According to report, the students could not leave the Buea central prison this Thursday because the decision came late, a source said he was at the prison premises where the administration said they need to sign their release documents, seemingly Friday.

This is just part of the process in the case where over 40 UB students were detained, hearing will continue Wednesday July 31,2013 at the Buea court of first instance.
